About the Item
Cawston’s work has a very painterly feel in both his use of colour and choice of subject matter. He is particularly influenced by Edward Hopper and found this very Hopperesque scene in the South of France.

The Spaces in Between series developed out of visits to Naples in Italy and Havana in Cuba, two cities whose past glories are suffused with a faded grandeur. Cawston’s search for these lost spaces of distressed beauty have taken him from Bristol to Burma, Mexico to Manaus. Often with rich colours and a cinematic feel, these lost corners have an ethereal beauty.

A larger format bespoke edition is also available on request. This custom edition of 3 pieces is produced to a client’s specifications. Typically this is for pieces greater than 150cm and up to 230cm on the longest side. Please contact us for further details.
