About the Item
Photographers notes: "Here are Clem and Debbie walking on 14th Street, probably around 1976. Debbie is blowing one of those little plastic bird whistles filled with water to make a warbling sound. In my opinion the stares (of the onlookers) are just based on the fact that no one looked like they did at the time. It's as if the two of them had dropped in from the present, from the fashion hipster New York of 2013." -Chris Stein
