Images shown are of smaller size 42 x 29.7 cm photographs. When she is traveling and away from her painting studio, Parr uses a camera as her way of ‘painting’ whilst on the move, Often mistaken as reproductions of her paintings, her photographs are Original Limited Edition pieces. Limited Edition of 10 Digital Photograph printed on 59 .4 x 42 cm 310gsm Hahnemuhele German Etching paper using archival ink. Image size 54.9 x 36.6 cm. Titled and numbered bottom left, signed and dated bottom right. Sent rolled in acid free tissue paper in a sturdy tube. Renata Maiblum says of Parr’s work: Gina Parr´s approach is a microcosm of surface, fragments of diversity founded on variety of exteriors; some human made, others adopting form by natural causes. Their very strong presence lends them the appearance of enlarged particles, those vibrant atoms of the country. The images exist by themselves, without need for definitions or description and, with their tactile and lively texture, seem as paintings. Parr removes from the viewers the possibility of knowing what the images really are; and her practice is to expose a world of illusions where the viewer self experiences the works purely by their visuality and not by their predeterminate definitions. Size: H:59.4 cm x W:42 cm

    By Joel Moens de Hase

Digital mosaic. Limited and signed edition, number 3 of 8. Edition original 8 ex + 3 EA. Joël Moens is a serial creator. Over the course of his lifetime, he has spawned over fifteen different businesses. Nowadays, and almost schizophrenically, he switches between his businessman’s hat and his artist’s hat at the mere click of a mouse, given that this disciple of the philosophy of action devotes his time to digital art. His artistic 'love at first sight' moment was his discovery of and introduction to photo mosaics. This is a process which renews the ancient technique of mosaic and is testament to the change in status of the image that resulted from the technological revolutions of the end of the twentieth century. The particular works of Joël Moens are made up of scores of feminine curves, that when assembled form a unified whole. The tiny photographic images lend a real sense of depth to the artist’s work, an idea of infinity. They can be read in two ways, depending on whether the viewer is looking at the content or the form. This reflects the ambivalence of his existence where he alternates between his activities as a businessman and his work as an artist. The photo mosaics of Joël Moens de Hase first began to emerge in 2011. They rapidly caught the interest of a national and international viewership, and both were highly receptive. This digital art form, a contemporary alternative of pixel art...

  • No. 5, Cubes (Abstract Cameraless Photograph in Black and Neutral, Framed)
    By Birgit Blyth
    Located in Hudson, NY
Abstract digital print on black/white photo paper 31.5 x 26.5 inches in custom black stained wood frame with black 8 ply mat and AR non glare glass These energetic prints are digital copies of original handmade monoprints by photographer Birgit Blyth. Without the use of a camera, the artist produced the original chromoskedasic image by applying the photographic chemicals to black and white photo pager and exposing it to light. The rich black, faded gold, and crisp white tones are determined by the different chemicals used and the amount of time they are exposed to light. In this piece, Blyth painted gestural, intersecting lines to create a grid-like pattern that falls back in space. About the artist and work: Birgit Blyth is one of our most innovative and prolific photographers who works in a darkroom yet uses no camera! Blyth has been experimenting with a technique known as Chromoskedasic painting since the early ‘90s and variations on this concept have been shown at the gallery for the last 20 years. The unusual process involves the use of silver particles in black and white photographic paper to scatter light at different wavelengths when exposed. A chemist of sorts, Blyth demonstrates a thorough knowledge of how the various photographic chemicals will react when applied to paper and exposed. Each work is unique with palettes that resonate brilliant tonalities of brown, green, black, and purple. Using this technique, Blyth creates abstract crosshatching grids and most recently has developed a more gestural series of 20 x 16 inch chromoskedasic paintings that explores the ethereal qualities made possible by the unconventional material. Birgit Blyth succeeds at keeping her work fresh and cutting-edge using analog methods that are being quickly replaced elsewhere with digital technology.
