'Shadow Play', diptych - 2016 'We painted the room deep blue sea over the mint green and opened the blinds, allowing the sun to flood in waves across the walls. We furnished it in light.' 20x48cm, Edition of 10 plus 2 Artist Proofs. Archival Print based on the original Polaroid on Hahnemühle photo rag paper. Signature label and certificate. Not mounted. Exhibition: Instant Dreams at the Saatchi’s The Other Art Fair LA, March, 2019, Bombay Beach Biennale March, in the permanent collection of the newly founded Polaroid Museum 2019 both curated by Stefanie Schneider. Published in Optiko Journal 2018 and in her artist book, The Long Way Home by Lisa Toboz (Static Age UK), 2018 about the work: "Before cancer, I had long red hair like a mermaid, and within a few weeks of treatment, it started to fall out. I shaved my head and watched myself transform into a different person: not only physically but also mentally, and now, when I look in a mirror, I see me, who I’m meant to be." Lisa Toboz. Lisa Toboz is a self-taught artist from Pittsburgh, USA using mostly Polaroid photography. Her work explores self-portraiture and the forgotten landscapes in and around the rust-belt region, but her most recent project, “Dwell,” navigates the territory of chronic illness and healing. She has exhibited internationally, and her first zine, “The Long Way Home,” was most recently published by Static Age UK. Member of Film Shooters Collective and the 12.12 Project.
