About the Item

Paxton Maroney Discernement 2017 Conceptual Photography Full Bleed Giclee print on Hahnemhle photo rag paper. Image size 30" x 30". Edition of 15 Paxton Maroney’s surreal photography invites the outside world to step inside snapshots of her dreams. For several years, she has woken up from vivid dreams, often in the middle of the night, and drawn the images composed on the backs of her eyelids. At times, she even engages in lucid dreaming throughout the day as she’s “trained her brain” to create new chimera for her portraiture. Then, when she has scouted out the perfect location, she begins reconstructing the scenes of her subliminal imagination. To Paxton, dreams aren’t so much stories as they are symbolic images that tend to hold deep meaning for the dreamer. But don’t bother asking her what her art means… she’d rather you step inside and find the meaning for yourself. Paxton has shown her conceptual works in a number of institutions and fairs including International Exhibition of Fine Art Photography, New York Center for Photographic Art, New York; Lori Kella Shaping New Worlds, Pennsylvania; Dina Mitrani Gallery, Florida; Las Laguna Gallery, California; Craighead Green Gallery, Texas; White Linen Dallas, Texas; The Upstairs Gallery, Texas; LOCAL at UT Southwestern Medical Center Library, Texas; Art Conspiracy Skewed, Texas; ArtCon 11, Texas; Kettle Art Gallery, Texas. She resides in Arlington, Texas. Offered with 3/4" float frame 1/8 reveal and 2" deep. Finishes: Oak, maple, pine, cedar, poplar also black or white painted. (Please specify finish in request).
