Ann Landers 'One Days' Mail', 1993 - Color Photograph, Matted and Framed

2023

About the Item

A throw back to snail-mail, this photograph of Eppy Lederer, aka Chicago Sun-Times Columnist Ann Landers, captures her in her element. For over forty years, Ann Landers counseled millions of readers with wit, humor, kindness, and good sense. Her popular column dispensed advice on issues from the growing pains of adolescence to the grief of widowhood. Upon moving to Chicago, Lederer asked the owner of the Sun Times, a family friend, whether columnist Ann Landers needed an assistant. The columnist was planning to retire from her twelve-year career, and Lederer took over both the column and the name. Three months after she began work as Ann Landers, her twin Pauline became Abigail Van Buren of “Dear Abby” fame, sparking one of the most famous sibling rivalries in American letters. This Artist Proof photograph is matted and framed in a simple black frame measuring 20.25h x 16.25w inches.
