Waiting For (60 x 60 in)

About

Last edition of 3. Mounted behind museum glass, minimalist framing with no outer frame. At the age of sixty-seven, Yeong-Jae Kim took hundreds of trips from home and the seventh national highway along the east coast of South Korea. With the aid of his camera, Kim transforms the seashore into a sanctuary where hectic moments of life can be put aside and forgotten. Although the jagged edges of stones on the seashore are often associated with strain, and agitation, the long-exposure techniques that Kim deploys, completely alter the mood. The sea through Kim’s lens is a mystical being that triggers a sense of calmness, and inner harmony. Kim has been experimenting with landscape photography, after spending thirty-seven years perfecting the craft. He first immersed himself in fine art photography practices in the 1990s; and has been involved with major Korean and international exhibitions, such as the Jangteo Photo Show at Sejong Center, International Photo Festival in Seoul, and the 57th Venice Biennale. Kim is also a member of the Photo Artist Society of Korea. He is currently based near Seoul, South Korea. Landscape, minimalism, Asian, seascape. Blue photography.
