Patrick Steel
Cycad Baby

2016

About the Item

A striking photographic study of a baby Cycad, aka King Sago Palm. Often called ”living fossils”, Cycads have changed very little in the last 200 million years. While various species of Cycads can be found throughout the world, the subtropical Cycas revoluta is native to the Far East and has been used as a choice container and landscape plant for centuries. All prints are bespoke and printed to order. Steel’s digital C-Type prints are limited editions. At 40inch edition of only 15. Other sizes are available. Presentation: Professionally printed and mounted between sheets of perspex (frameless) with an aluminium subframe for hanging. The finished piece is supplied ready to hang on the wall, eliminating the need for a picture frame. More detail : The colour print is bonded to clear acrylic using a silicon gel and then backed with a black acrylic substrate. Once the perspex has been bonded to the front of the print the appearance is of high definition with deep saturated colour. The completed piece is supplied with an aluminium sub-frame, which floats the panel from the wall. Reverse perspex has a reflective diamond polished finish with a stunning flawless result. Printed, mounted & finished by Metro Imaging. Sample image provided shows how the piece will look from the side. Authentication: Prints are signed on verso and supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity. ABOUT PATRICK STEEL Patrick Steel is a London-based British photographer who grew up with photography around him, as his father Arthur Steel, was a renowned Fleet Street photographer. From the age of 7, he would help his Dad print black and white images in the dark room. He would go on to study photography, and after his studies, went to work at London’s largest photographic studio, Holborn Studios. After going freelance, Patrick worked on assignments all around the world with some of the world’s leading photographers, including Terry O’Neill, David Steen and Brian Aris. He has personally met Her Majesty the Queen, Michael Jackson and David Bowie through his work. As well as being an incredibly talented fine art photographer with unique work, he is also a highly sought after interiors photographer, working with some of the most well known designers.

Print will come unframed with signed certificate of authenticity. ABOUT MIEKE DOUGLAS Mieke Douglas is an award winning Canadian/Dutch Fine Art Photographer who currently lives and works in London. Mieke is a self-taught photographer whose work questions relationships between people and nature by challenging issues of distance and intimacy. Mieke draws influence from Abstract Impressionists, the abandonment of the traditional and combines this with the the17th century Dutch Master Painters’ use of light, composition and colour to direct the eye of the viewer. Her images offer a personal interpretation of intrinsic form, rather than narrative content or direct pictorial representation of a subject. Mieke’s work strips down the unnecessary and focuses on simple lines and moments of stillness. Mieke’s images are held in private collections and have been exhibited internationally in Paris, Rome, Rotterdam, Barcelona and London, including at the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2019. She has won numerous awards, most recently: a Julia...
