Joel Moens de Hase
Go For It! S1

About the Item

Digital mosaic. Signed and limited edition number 4 of 8. Joël Moens is a serial creator. Over the course of his lifetime, he has spawned over fifteen different businesses. Nowadays, and almost schizophrenically, he switches between his businessman’s hat and his artist’s hat at the mere click of a mouse, given that this disciple of the philosophy of action devotes his time to digital art. His artistic 'love at first sight' moment was his discovery of and introduction to photo mosaics. This is a process which renews the ancient technique of mosaic and is testament to the change in status of the image that resulted from the technological revolutions of the end of the twentieth century. The particular works of Joël Moens are made up of scores of feminine curves, that when assembled form a unified whole. The tiny photographic images lend a real sense of depth to the artist’s work, an idea of infinity. They can be read in two ways, depending on whether the viewer is looking at the content or the form. This reflects the ambivalence of his existence where he alternates between his activities as a businessman and his work as an artist. The photo mosaics of Joël Moens de Hase first began to emerge in 2011. They rapidly caught the interest of a national and international viewership, and both were highly receptive. This digital art form, a contemporary alternative of pixel art and pointillism, has the ability to surprise and seduce through the originality and aesthetics of the concept. It is a testament to its age. It stems from a wide range of different sources but primarily from the liberation of a futuristic spirit, that of this Belgian artist born in 1959. A veritable homage to sensuality, a symphony of colours which unleashes the imagination and tantalises the senses.

Photography mounted on Diasec/Mixed Media Anne Valverde (b. 1968) is a Parisian photographer fascinated by urban spaces and the graphism of landscapes. She creates a dreamlike world through the use of her photographs featuring idyllic settings, furthering this effect with calligraphy and light. After digital processing, the high-resolution prints are exclusively developed on silver paper. According to Valverde, she designs her photos to be imaginative springboards: "windows with views." Since 2016, she has worked cross-country on the DREAM ART project with neon set-up in her photographs. Through the medium of neon, she revives the essence of the word "photograph," which translates to "writing with light" in Greek. Her literal interpretation transports the viewer into a realm of ethereal landscapes. Parisian photographer fascinated by urban spaces and the graphism of landscapes. She notably tries to make dreams about people by photographs of idyllic decors. In her job, she links calligraphy and light, her two main passions. The distinctiveness of her work lies in the colorization of certain details of her photos taken in black and white. Her work has been influenced by great artists such as Basquiat and Warhol...
