About the Item

Liseberg, literally "Lisa's mountain", is an amusement park in Sweden. The renown Italian artist Chiara Dynys, after visiting it, wanted to translate is perceptions into a work of art, shaping the essence of the place through a series of artworks. The Artist’s shots represent a dichotomy between carefreeness and sadness and, through the filter of the camera, some disturbing scenarios, almost like nightmares. The suspended atmosphere of these scenarios carries on a narrative that is not resolved in a positive or negative ending, but only in showing the sense of mystery. These works are designed as small crime films in which certain shapes, made through reflective silvering are superimposed on certain elements of the scene, allowing the outside world and even the viewer to enter the image. The Dallas-New York piece is inserted inside a frame made of methacrylate and silver fusion on glass, fully expresses the essence of the series. In fact, the irregularity of the form captures the observer and transports him into a distorted scenario: a journey through the artist's eyes on the the dichotomy of perception. Since the beginning of her activity, at the early 90's, she has worked on two main directions, both referable to a single attitude towards to a single attitude towards reality: identifying in the world and in the shapes the presence the presence and the sense of anomaly, of the variant, of the "threshold" that allows the mind to pass from human reality to pass from human reality to a metaphysical scenario. To do this, she uses apparently eclectic materials, ranging from light to glass, to mirrors, to ceramics, castings, fabric, video, photography, and metals.
