Michel Piquette
Horizon #1

2017

About the Item

Through photography, Michel Piquette creates captures of time, animated by a paradoxical quest for an image preceding any technique. By weaving together aspects of geometry and abstraction, photography and experimental practices, Piquette creates a world suspended in time, where the trivial and the obvious become vectors of beauty and emotion.

This size print is available in an Edition of 7 + 2 Artist Proofs. In her new series, Chalk Streams, Ellie Davies focusses on the stunning natural ecosystems that are the crystal-clear chalk streams in Dorset and Hampshire, near where she lives, in the West of England. One theme that threads throughout her entire body of work is an appreciation and concern for the natural environment around us. In Chalk Streams, Davies looks at the delicate ecosystems that are under threat. Chalk streams are a unique ecosystem that house a high biodiversity of plants and creatures. Their cool, fresh waters come from rain that permeates the chalk, filtering it and allowing it to flow through the flinty bedrock and emerge further down slopes as purely clear mineral water. In this series, Davies takes the reflection of light on the surface of the sea and overlays it onto the chalk streams, creating a sparkling liquid path...
