Elizabeth Taylor, 1959 by Burt Glinn is a black-and-white photograph shot on film a portrait of Elizabeth Taylor on the beach during the filming of the adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer. Photographing one of the most highly-paid actresses of the time, Glinn captures Elizabeth Taylor, 27 years old, a star from age 12, in all her splendor. A 20" x 16" gelatin silver photograph with the artist's blind stamp in margin on recto (front of photo), and signed by the estate (wife of Glinn) on back of print. Provenance: Glinn Estate *** Artist's Bio: Born 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, photographer Burt Glinn worked for LIFE magazine before joining Magnum photo agency. He photographed personalities throughout the 1950s and 60s, continuing to work commercially and editorially for more than five decades in the US and abroad on assignment, until his death in 2008. The artist photographed revolutionary leader Fidel Castro entrance into Havana, Cuba, celebrity and art luminaries such as Andy Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler. Subject matter included the social scene of the rich, the dirtiness of politics, and the humorous.
