Frank Yamrus
untitled (Paul)

1999

About the Item

Gelatin silver print (Edition of 15) Signed, dated, and numbered, verso From the series, "Rapture" This photograph is offered by ClampArt, located in New York City. Please note that prices increase as editions sell. While rapture is a highly subjective internal state, Frank Yamrus is interested in giving it real physical dimension by documenting a variety of people during a quantifiable and reproducible rapturous experience – the orgasm. Utilizing a rigorously documentary approach (in the vein of Bernd and Hilla Becher or their predecessor, August Sander), Yamrus is consistent – almost scientific – in the organizational parameters and logistics of the project. Yet, these are not straightforward clinical profiles. The emotional charge and intimacy of these photographs is visceral and palpable. Frank Yamrus has been exhibiting his work internationally for over twenty years, with his photographs represented in numerous public collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Worcester Art Museum, Massachusetts; and the Denver Art Museum; among others.
