Michel Comte
From humanitarian assignments in war-torn countries to photoshoots with some of the world’s most prominent people and brands, Michel Comte is a celebrated contemporary magazine and fashion photographer who has worked all over the globe.
Collaborating with the likes of Vogue Italia, l'Uomo Vogue, Vanity Fair and Interview didn’t happen instantly for Comte. Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, the photographer began his career in art restoration, working on pieces by Andy Warhol and Yves Klein until 1979, when he secured his first assignment from fashion industry legend Karl Lagerfeld for French luxury house Chloé. Later, Lagerfeld arranged for Comte to work with Chanel, and from there, the photographer built relationships with numerous brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gianfranco Ferre, Ferrari, Hennessy, Hermès, Lancôme, Jaguar and more.
Comte worked on photoshoots with many celebrities and public figures such as Mike Tyson, Miles Davis, Sofia Coppola, Elijah Wood, Tina Turner and others.
While keeping busy with shoots, Comte also found time to set up his own humanitarian organization and established successful fundraising efforts with the International Red Cross that focused on supplying clean water to countries in need.
As a passionate mountain climber, Comte became intimately aware of global warming and has worked for decades to increase public awareness relating to climate change. Comte scaled mountains by air and foot to photograph the changes in ice caps — often returning to the same locations all over the world in order to document the disappearing ice.
Comte has exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, the Kunst Haus Wien in Austria, the Verona Centro Internazionale di Fotografia and Munich Pinakothek der Moderne.

- Raquel Welch On The Cross (40" x 40")By Terry O'NeillLocated in Greenwich, CTRaquel Welch is an American actress and singer. She first won attention for her role in Fantastic Voyage (1966), after which she won a contract with 20th Century Fox. They lent her contract to a British studio, for whom she made One Million Years B.C. (1966). Voted by Playboy magazine as the "Most Desired Woman" of the '70s, Raquel Welch is photographed for a publicity still for the film 'One Million Years BC', circa 1966. The iconic photo was deemed too controversial for promotional use at the time and wasn’t published until 30 years later, on the cover of The Sunday Times Magazine. In 1966, Terry O’Neill went to the filming of One Million Years B.C. At the time Hollywood had just reached the point when the censorship laws that had choked film making for about forty years had finally become a thing of this past. According to Terry O’Neill “the filmmakers knew that a scantily clad Raquel Welch was going to draw all sort of attention,” and “Raquel, as beautiful as she is, was still a bit shy about being filmed in her now infamous fur bikini...Category

- Road Block, Lewa, Kenya. (40" x 51.05")By James LewinLocated in Greenwich, CT"Placing a well positioned remote camera with a wide angle lens allows for unique and intimate images. It is as if the rhino is walking out of the frame. This shot was a big moment for me. This was my first real success with remotes and has always reminded me that it’s worth going for the low percentage opportunities, because the rewards are so much greater when you do pull it off. Seeing the three dimensionality for the first time made it clear to me that photographing dangerous wildlife with wide angle lenses from intimate viewpoints was the way forward.
