Wyona Diskin's abstract monoprints juxtapose strong geometric forms and dynamic color contrasts. Rich in in texture they feature many subtle graduations of color within each hue.
Wyona Diskin (USA, 1919-2016), an American painter and print maker, born and raised in New York City resided throughout her adult life in Manhattan. She was introduced to the New York art scene through her friend Michael Loew and his circle of friends who included artists like Jackson Pollack, George and Eileen De Kooning and Milton Avery.
She studied art at the NYU and at the NYAA under Joseph Hirsch and Lily Harmon amongst others. She also worked there for John Kacere and Jack Tworkov.
Diskin's preferred mediums were oil and acrylic for much of her life, only at a later stage of her creative work she went into print making.
