About the Item

Original poster of the ERP European Reunification Program, Inter-europaische Zusammenarbeit fur bessere Lebenbedingungen, which translates to "Inter-European Collaboration for Better General Living Conditions." The European Recovery Program (ERP), later known as the Marshall Plan, was a U.S.-sponsored program designed to rehabilitate European economies after World War II. German companies that received ERP funds were required to repay the German government, which then loaned the money to other companies. This process continues today through the governmental bank KfW, which finances several programs - the "ERP programs" - from the special assets of the ERP. The ERP was a generous proposal to help Europeans get back on their feet by providing them with means for recovery. One of the conditions of this financial assistance was that the European governments themselves take the first steps toward economic collaboration. The Marshall Plan became strongly identified with American anti-communist foreign policy (support for the "free world" as a buffer to the spread of communism), and this aspect was welcomed by Marshall Plan skeptics in the United States. In this poster, we see a leader with a jacket made up of the flag of each nation that joined the PRT. Literally, the leader is preparing a "melting pot" of all the nations that joined. Politics

  • Original 1898 lithography entitled "Le Concert" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
    By Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
    Located in PARIS, FR
The original 1898 lithography entitled "Le Concert" by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is a work of great artistic finesse, capturing both the artist's distinctive style and the elegant scene of society at the time. This lithograph features a well-dressed, wealthy couple in a red theater box. The gentleman is Gabriel Tapié de Céleyran and the lady is Émilienne d'Alençon. The woman is dressed in fur and wears an elaborate black hat, exuding undeniable elegance and sophistication. Lautrec meticulously captures the details of their clothing and expressions, creating a striking depiction of 19th-century high society. This lithograph was commissioned from Toulouse-Lautrec by Ault and Wiborg, American manufacturers of lithographic ink. It was part of a limited edition printed in Paris, with the original zinc plates subsequently shipped to America for printing in the main edition. The four original zinc plates are now housed at the Art Institute of Chicago. This work is all the more remarkable as it is believed to be the only lithograph Lautrec...
