Araquém Alcântara, 64 years old, is considered by the critics as a forerunner of nature photography in Brazil and one of the most important photographers active in this country. Since 1970, he has been working full-time on the documentation of nature and the Brazilian people. Araquém is a strong supporter of Brazil's natural heritage, particularly the Amazon Rainforest and the Atlantic Forest. It is also pointed out by critics as one of the precursors of nature photography in Brazil as one of the most important photographers operating in the country.
His work has garnered international acclaim and is currently a national hallmark and source of inspiration for new photographers.
