"Surrounded Island (Biscayne Bay) is a 1983 signed, limited-edition offset lithograph on hand-made cotton paper by world-famous artist Christo, depicting the spectacular work he did together with his wife Jeanne-Claude at Biscayne Bay near Miami, Florida, USA. Framed in a minimalist black wooden frame to museum standard.
Christo (1935 - 2020) was a Bulgarian born, American artist who became famous together with his artistic partner and wife Jeanne-Claude (1935 - 2009) through their large-scale, site-specific environmental installations, often landmarks and landscape elements wrapped in fabric, as well as wrapped objects. They both said that their projects contained no deeper meaning than their immediate aesthetic impact; their purpose being simply for joy, beauty and new ways of seeing the familiar or exploring dimensions.
