Chignon is an expertly crafted, embossed serigraph on paper with foil stamping and an image size of 13.5 x 13.5 inches. From the edition of 650, the art is numbered XXVI/CCC and estate-stamped 'Erté' lower right (there were also 300 Arabic and 50 AP). Framed in a classic 'reed and ribbon' gold-tone moulding. Chignon is one of four serigraphs in Erté’s ‘Fashion and Jewelry Suite II.’ The suite showcases four of the most exquisite Erté designs that sprang from his twenty-two year association with Harper’s Bazaar. His drawings for the magazine sparked the creation of innumerable fashion designs for some of the world’s most glamorous women, among them designs for jewelry and fashion accessories. Chignon is a unique hair accessory that features an elegant gold and black fan with black diamonds sensually draping down the side and front of the woman’s neck. Martin Lawrence Galleries is an affiliate of Erté's publisher Chalk & Vermilion Fine Arts. This print is therefore as new, with no prior ownership, coming straight from the publisher.
