About the Item
Jean-Baptiste Huet, a French Rococo painter and engraver, is known for his pastoral scenes, animal paintings, and depictions of cherubs. Three Cherubs (sometimes referred to as Les Trois Amours) would have been painted in the late 18th century, during the Rococo period, which is characterized by lightness, elegance, and the playful depiction of mythological and pastoral themes.
Huet was active during the reign of Louis XVI and was influenced by the works of François Boucher, one of the leading Rococo painters.
The Louvre's reproduction in calcography (engraving) of this work continues the tradition of preserving important artistic contributions to French culture.
