About the Item
Signed, titled and numbered by the artist. This print was an hommage to the architect Louis Sullivan, done after a trip to Chicago. While keeping the fantastical garden scenery, the image if framed by an elaborate semi-circular arch so common to Sullivan's work. The image also includes one of Houtin's "cabane" or gardeners huts. Signed and numbered.
Bordering at times on the surreal, baroque in their richness and extravagance of conception, Houtin's gardens are hybrid creations in terms of both their botany and architecture, which wittily plunder a wide spectrum of conventions.
Houtins works have been exhibited in many solo shows throughout Europe and the United States, and are in many museum collections.
