About the Item
Clouds Behind Clouds II by Simon Tozer [2021]
This is one of an ongoing series of seascapes and sky images that have clouds as their main focus. Clouds are ethereal forms, and along with the sea they represent for me the world that lies beyond my own human concerns. This print sold out in its original edition of 30, and this is a new version in shades of blue rather than the original green, and it has an additional colour layer. It is a 5 colour screenprint on Fabriano Rosaspina Bianco 285gsm paper.

Simon Tozer is an award winning printmaker based in Bristol. Simon Tozer's screen prints are constructed images, built up through the layering of translucent colours and through a combination of hand drawn and digital mark making. He is currently working on imagery relating to the sky and sea. The images are a response to the idea of expansiveness: drifting clouds that cross the elemental boundary of land and water, and the reorientation of the sense of self that occurs when, on arriving at the ocean we encounter that vastness of space and the hypnotic attraction of the sea. Simon initially studied painting at Portsmouth, only taking up printmaking later while living in Oxford, where he was the recipient of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies Award for print. He became interested in screen print when completing an MA in Print at Chelsea College of Art in 1990. Whilst at Chelsea he received the British Institution Fund Award for Printmaking. In London he worked for some years as a scenic painter and muralist, creating murals as far afield as Moscow and Kenya. Simon exhibits widely, and his work has been included in several prestigious exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, The Royal West of England Autumn Open, and The National Open Print Exhibition. He moved to Bristol in 2002, and produces his prints, as well as teaching screen print, from his studio near Bristol’s Harbourside.

Michael Wallner - Above and Beyond, 2016, print on brushed aluminium. Limited edition of 25 (11 remain). Aerial view of London, stretching from the South Bank as far as Kent in the distance. I am always looking for great views of London, views that best illustrate the beautiful lines and shapes that make it such an iconic city. To achieve this view I hung out of a helicopter with the doors taken off. It was worth the extra heartbeats. The image is then digitally manipulated to trace the outlines of the buildings, coloured on a graphics tablet, and printed directly onto brushed aluminium. This gives the piece an etched effect. A smart aluminium frame on the back makes it very easy to hang. The piece is also available in a larger size: 104 x 152 cm. Please note, this piece is made to order. It can usually be created and delivered in around 10-14 days.
Michael Wallner has original artworks for sale with Wychwood Art both in their art gallery and online. Michael has spent more than twenty years in the media industry working on entertainment programmes, talk shows, documentaries, animations and a children’s novel. But creating original and innovative art is his true passion. His latest work celebrates the beauty of the city through the shapes, outlines and colours that define its character. London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Miami, Paris and Dubai all feature in Michael’s portfolio. The art is created by digitally manipulating and colouring his own photographs to produce unusual prints on aluminium, reclaimed wood, brass, even 1930’s copper-lite windows. He also creates neon, magnetic, and L.E.D installations. The metal pieces are printed on very thin sheets of brushed aluminium, giving the work an etched appearance. Michael works out of his studio at Wimbledon Art...
