Contemporary lenticular photography - Ana D. & Noora K. - Nude portrait

2022

About the Item

"Moveo Lucidum", 2019 Lenticular photography The duo finds its expression through lenticular photography in their series « Spinning Nature ». Lenticular photography, like a hologram, allows the viewer to see a set of different images depending on where they stand, thus allowing the artists to express movement. Their visual language is based on the interplay between movement and transparency, that they capture through photography. The subjects of the photo are placed at the center of empty space and must find their own understanding of what it means to exist ; the duo often represent through their work both humans and various natural resources or waste, illustrating the disconnect we experience with our environment.

  • Bruni vs Sarkosy, After Comte
    By Alex Guofeng Cao
    Located in New York, NY
In a captivating new collection, Alex Guofeng Cao dazzles audiences with his unique twist on instantly recognizable images. Inspired by history and pop culture, Cao manipulates one iconic image to create another in his extraordinary large-scale works. From a distance, the pieces appear to be a singular image but as the viewer approaches closer, you find each work is a masterfully crafted compilation of minute detailed images layered next to one another, creating a mesmerizing and hypnotic optical illusion. Cao meticulously places each smaller image to form a dynamic gradient from dark to light which tricks the eye into seeing one image. This expertise in contrast is exemplified in all of his works, from striking black and white pieces to stunning explorations in high-definition color. He cleverly mirrors this visual contrast in his subject matter by subverting the main image and creating a dialogue between the macrocosm and microcosm. Take the piece, Ali vs Armstrong; here we see the iconic image of Muhammed Ali’s victory composed of thousands of tiny portraits...

  • The Cleaner
    By Marina Abramovic
    Located in New York, NY
Marina Abramović The Cleaner, 2017 Offset Lithograph poster from this European exhibition 39 2/5 × 27 3/5 inches Unframed and unsigned About The Cleaner project - courtesy of the Louisiana Museum Marina Abramović has inscribed herself in the history of art as one of the pioneers of body and performance art, and since the 1970s – with her own body and energy as her primary material – she has developed one of contemporary art’s most radical and uncompromising practices. Abramović is best known for physically and mentally demanding performance works that are often transgressive and revolve around the body, gender, energy, time, pain, presence, and identity. Her performances range from powerful, violent, and risky actions to quieter exchanges of energy and meetings with the audience. And especially in recent years, we the audience have increasingly become key players in her works. The exhibition at Louisiana comprised more than 100 works and spans more than five decades – from early concept sketches, paintings and sound works to presentations of the artist’s performances – including her collaboration with former partner Ulay. Reperformances of an early work formed part of the exhibition as well. Marina Abramović – The Cleaner was developed in dialogue with the artist and organized by Moderna Museet, Stockholm, in collaboration with Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn. The performance part...
