About the Item
Paul Insect, also known as Paul Don Smith, is a British street artist who gained recognition in the 1990s for his bold and irreverent works that blend street art and fine art. He is known for his Dada-esque portraits, which often feature distorted and exaggerated faces, and his use of bright colors, collaged elements, and unexpected materials.
Insect first gained prominence in the UK graffiti scene in the 1990s, before transitioning to gallery exhibitions in the early 2000s. He has exhibited his works in galleries and museums around the world, including solo shows at London's Lazarides Gallery and New York's Allouche Gallery. Insect's works have also been featured in group shows at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
In recent years, Insect has continued to evolve his artistic style, incorporating more diverse media and techniques, including printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media installations. His works continue to explore themes of identity, consumerism, and the impact of technology on contemporary society.
