2020

About the Item

Paul Insect, also known as Paul Don Smith, is a British street artist who gained recognition in the 1990s for his bold and irreverent works that blend street art and fine art. He is known for his Dada-esque portraits, which often feature distorted and exaggerated faces, and his use of bright colors, collaged elements, and unexpected materials. Insect first gained prominence in the UK graffiti scene in the 1990s, before transitioning to gallery exhibitions in the early 2000s. He has exhibited his works in galleries and museums around the world, including solo shows at London's Lazarides Gallery and New York's Allouche Gallery. Insect's works have also been featured in group shows at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. In recent years, Insect has continued to evolve his artistic style, incorporating more diverse media and techniques, including printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media installations. His works continue to explore themes of identity, consumerism, and the impact of technology on contemporary society. This limited edition print is a 16-layer screen print with a blend of metallic and pearlised inks on Somerset 410gsm radiant white satin paper. The piece is finished with colored glitter and high gloss varnish, adding an extra layer of texture and shine to the already striking image. Each edition comes framed, float-mounted inside a white, round, painted wooden frame, fitted with UV plexiglass for protection. The piece is mounted using archival Japanese paper loops, on acid-free mount board. The print measures 36.6 inches by 1.2 inches from an edition size of 30 and is a true testament to Paul Insect's artistic prowess. Collectors and art lovers alike will appreciate the level of detail and craftsmanship that goes into each print. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own a piece of Paul Insect's captivating and thought-provoking artwork.
