I KNEW EACH STONE AND TREE.....Both Grape and Wine To Me is an original hand drawn stone lithograph by Emanuel Schary(Israel, b. 1924, d. 1994) printed using hand lithography techniques on archival printmaking paper. I KNEW EACH STONE AND TREE is a realistically hand drawn pencil portrait of an older bearded man immersed in thought set in a bucolic biblical landscape with rolling hills, stone houses, and trees drawing the viewer into this peaceful scene. Emanuel Schary celebrated the strength and beauty of ordinary characters. Schary's main artistic themes are the history of Israel and of Jewish New York. Emanuel Schary grew up in Israel, an experience that has rewarded him with a rich repository of indelible images and emotions, which he repeatedly draws on and are an intrinsic ingredient in the Schary oeuvre. Schary came to the United States to complete his studies in fine art, where he developed an immediate and irrevocable love of the color, life and earthiness of his two favorite New Yorks-the old and the new.
