Artist: Norman Rockwell Title: Connoisseur Collotype reproduction, 1976, after oil painting (1962). Signed by the artist Medium: 8 color Collotype on Rives BFK paper Edition: AP, aside from the edition of 200. Height (inches): 30¼ Width (inches): 24¼ This piece is unframed. "Connoisseur" by Norman Rockwell An eight color collotype, measuring 30 ¼ x 24 ¼ inches. Printed in 1976 at Triton Press in New York. The edition consists of the following impressions on BFK Rives paper: 200 numbered and 60 artist proofs signed in pencil by Norman Rockwell. An additional 35 examples, pencil signed in Roman numerals, have been reserved for the artist. Each print carries the embossed seal of Eleanor Ettinger Inc. The stones/plates have been effaced. Mr. Rockwell was hands and eyes on with each drawing and color selection initialing his approval of each proof and the progressive proofs along the way to completion. The B.A.T. was signed by the artist and brought back for the editioning on the century old flat bed presses. Born in New York City in 1894, Norman Rockwell always wanted to be an artist. At age 14, Rockwell enrolled in art classes at The New York School of Art (formerly The Chase School of Art). Two years later, in 1910, he left high school to study art at The National Academy of Design. A 8 color Collotype on Rives BFK paper, hand proof and printed at Atelier Ettinger. Signed in pencil and numbered by Norman Rockwell in May 1977.
