About the Item
CIGARS,CIGARETTES by the woman artist Robin Morris, is an original limited edition lithograph printed in 15 colors using hand lithography techniques on archival Arches paper, 100% acid free. CIGARS,CIGARETTES is a modern, Art Deco styled portrait of a glamorous and shapely cigarette girl dressed in her form-fitting, bright plum purple colored dress and matching pillbox hat. Around her neck, she carries a tray with a variety of cigars, cigarettes; her flirtatious eye capturing the attention of the gentlemen seated in the elegant cocktail lounge. Dramatic color palette of deep blue, emerald green, yellow ochre, red purple, browns, white and black. Note: Cigarette girls were a common sight in restaurants, clubs, bars, airports, and casinos in the 1930s and 1940s in the United States.
Ms. Morris utilizes her characteristic Art Deco stylized drawing in creating a nostalgic interior nightclub scene for Cigars, Cigarettes which depicts a dramatic cocktail lounge setting made up bold colors - intense deep blue walls, huge jade green leafy plants, golden ochre yellow table coverings, deep purple, plum, light tan beige, red, light yellow, and black all adding to the drama of this very unique and slightly amusing lithograph.
