About the Item

Original vintage travel poster: FLY PSA, "For a Song"; "How' ya gonna keep 'em down on the ground…." Flower power and psychedelic design on this Fly Pacific Southwest Airlines rare poster. The airline poster promotes its flights in California to the cities of San Francisco, San Diego, San Joes, Ontario, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Hollywood-Burbank and Oakland airports. The airplane appears to smile at the viewer This poster is not linen backed. Excellent condition. One of the most successful regional airlines in American history; Pacific Southwest Airlines. Kenny Friedkin, the founder of PSA, started in 1949 with one leased DC-3 and expanded his fleet to serve millions of passengers each year. PSA is no longer in operation. The poster is presumed to be done by Sally Reeder whose name is located on the bottom right corner. We have no information about this artist who created this poster. The name Pacific Southwest Airlines was formed by mixing the names of 2 operating airlines - Pacific and Southwest. The airline existed from 1949 - 1988. There is a small museum dedicated to the defunct airlines at AS DISPLAYED IN THE PSA EXHIBIT AT THE SAN DIEGO AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM. (this poster is missing from the Space Museum exhibit.) This is an Original Lithograph Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction—this poster in excellent condition.
