Roland Martin
Roland Martin is a German sculptor. As a 16-year-old Martin was used in 1943 as a Luftwaffenhelfer, towards the end of the war he was taken, prisoner. From 1946–51, he studied at the Bernstein School in Glatt with Hans Ludwig Pfeiffer and Paul Kälberer. In 1950, he was for a short time at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe, Field Office Freiburg in Freiburg im Breisgau with Wilhelm Gerstel, from 1951–52, he was a student of Fritz Nuss. Since 1952, Martin has worked as a freelance sculptor in Tuttlingen. Among his students is Jörg Bach. While abstract reliefs and sculptures made of metal and aluminum date back to around 1980, Martin has been increasingly turning to human figures since the mid-1970s. In groups of figures, social relationships are represented. The figures are cast in bronze, aluminum or Keramin. In Baden-Württemberg alone, there are a total of 144 sculptures, fountains, steles, mosaics, glass windows and war memorials of Martin, he created more than 80 works for public space. In 2007, Martin was awarded the Culture Prize of the city of Tuttlingen. Martin is a member of the Artists Association of Baden -Württemberg and the German Artists Association, at whose annual exhibitions he participated several times between 1964–75.

Bill is widely considered the single most decisive influence on Swiss graphic design beginning in the 1950s with his theoretical writing and progressive work.[3] His connection to the days of the Modern Movement gave him special authority. As an industrial designer, his work is characterized by a clarity of design and precise proportions.[4] Examples are the elegant clocks and watches designed for Junghans, a long-term client. Among Bill's most notable product designs is the "Ulmer Hocker...Category

He studied from 1959 to 1961 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, from 1961 to 1965 at the State University of Fine Arts in Hamburg with Thiemann, Mavignier and Wunderlich. In 1966 he went to Paris for a year on a grant (“ Cité Internationale des Arts ”). From the mid-1960s he developed his visual language, which was reduced to landscape fragments and signet-like abstraction. (“the representation is strongly objectified, but does not lack a surreal-poetic quality...”). He saw Caspar David Friedrich , René Magritte and Giogio de Chirico as his role models . From 1964 he titled his pictures with the term “New Landscape”, which he determined. At the same time, Werner Nöfer and Jens Lausen were working on a similar artistic program. In 1968 he was a co-founder of the CO-OP artists' cooperative Hamburg , which wanted to switch off the art market with several graphic portfolio editions (members included Bruno Bruni , Dizi, Klaus Geldmacher , Dieter Glasmacher , Ullrich Hohenhaus, Tomislav Laux, Ernst Mitzka, Werner Nöfer, Sigmar Polke , Anna Oppermann...Category

Executed in 1991, this work is an artist’s proof from an edition of 35 plus 1 artist’s proof. Provenance: Private Collection, Venezuela - Acquired from the above by the present owner - Sotheby's Auction “The first duty of the creator: restlessness,” Gerd Leufert wrote in 1985, looking back on his 30-year career as an artist, designer, museum worker, and professor of art in Venezuela.1 Bridging the worlds of commerce and culture in Caracas, Leufert’s impact on art and design owed to his interdisciplinary approach: the influence of cutting-edge developments in abstract art appeared in his graphic design, while the efficiency and bold contrast of mid-century design characterized his paintings. An immigrant born in German-controlled Lithuania at the cusp of the first World War, Leufert studied arts and design in Hannover, Mainz, and, finally, in Munich with the German typographer Fritz H...Category
