About the Item
iPad drawing on aluminum.
Edition of 5.
This IPad drawing was part of Sebastian Spreng's Dresden exhibition at the Lowe Museum of Art. The 60 piece Dresden Project depicts the decimation of the beautiful German city by allied bombers in 1945 and is a meditation on mankind's infinite capacity for both good and evil.
After oil painting for 40 years, Spreng transitioned to iPad drawing and since exhibited his iPad artwork in four shows.
Sebastian Spreng, is a Miami-based artist born in Argentina, who at the early age of 17, had his first solo show at a gallery in Buenos Aires which was sold out at opening night. When he moved to Miami in 1987, the excess of sunshine made him change his approach to painting and his career blossomed. Since then, Spreng has participated in solo and group exhibitions from Boston to Seattle to Munich, Essen to Tokyo. His work is inspired on observations of everyday moments. As a hunter or seeker of color he experiments with colors that vibrate with life. "If I see a photograph or if I watch a movie and I see a color that I like, from that color, I start a new set of paintings," said Sebastian Spreng in an exclusive 2011 WUM interview. "The meaning of my art is a bridge to entice contemplation."
In 2009 his work Daphne was selected for the book “Speak for the Trees” along 70 other artists including David Hockney, Christo, April Gornik, Yoko Ono, Julie Heffernan, Robert Longo, Mark Ryden, the Starn Brothers, etc.

- Southern Sea 11, Digitally Abstracted Seascape Printed on Metal, 2021By Amanda LomaxLocated in Boston, MADigital print on metal; semigloss finish; signed in verso. Artist Commentary: Part of the Southern Seas Series, this image is a manipulation of my own original photograph. Harnessing the graphic power of colors, it explores not only what is seen, but what could be. Hardedge lines distill the composition into colorful stripes reminiscent of op-art paintings. Each image is a slightly different meditation on color. As part of my broader body of work, this series invites us as humans to evolve to higher states of being through visual meditation on color. This work, and this series, uses photography to study color, the camera to deconstruct the world and color to create visual meditations. Words that describe this piece: sea, dusk, sunset, ocean, photographic art, abstract, minimalist Artist Biography: Born in Nashville, TN in 1979, American artist Amanda Lomax...Category
