"Beacon Park Yard" by Kenji Nakayama is a 19" x 24" Hand-Embellished Archival Pigment Print on 300gsm Fine Art Paper. This work comes signed, numbered and with a Certificate of Authenticity from Kenji Nakayama and 1xRUN. "Beacon Park Yard" does not come framed; please contact us for framing options and pricing. "This was one of the old stencils I did in 2006. I used to sneak into Beacon Park Yard in Allston and made a few compositions from those visits. Coming from an engineering background, trains--and anything made out of steel--are always my favorite things. I love trainyards. Beacon Park Yard has finished its operation and now it's an empty yard. Unfortunately yet another landmark disappeared from our town." - Kenji Nakayama Kenji Nakayama was born in Tomokomai on the island of Hokkaido, Japan in 1979. A mechanical engineer by education, Nakayama made a significant life change in 2005 with a move to Boston, Massachusetts to study traditional sign painting and to dedicate his time and energy to art-making. Nakayama's diverse practice ranges from careful pinstriping and gilded lettering to hand-cut, multi-layered stencil paintings. Each intricately carved stencil painting is a unique manifestation of documenting and responding to the environment surrounding him, and often takes months to complete. His work serves as a personal diary of experience and influence, and his process can be described as a balance between meditation and highly-trained craftsmanship. Music, solitude, humor, motorcycles, and urban decay serve as direct sources of inspiration. Nakayama's work has been shown internationally and is in the collection of the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Four Seasons Restaurant in New York.
