About the Item
This unique piece is comprised of a variety of exotic hardwoods. This sculpture is composed of 80 individual faces, and is titled Frequency 2 Icosahedron. This work has a calm and elegant nature to it. The intense browns of the wood contrast and compliment the velvety brown and yellow areas of color. Even with this, the colors themselves do not create dissonance or high contrast between each other and instead work together to create a more sophisticated look. This piece, as with similar works by Ferraro, has a wonderful tactile nature.
Ferraro is a graduate of SUNY Albany (MA & MFA). Ferraro has exhibited internationally, nationally, with 22 solo performance / exhibitions. He is in collections of multiple museums, including Albany Institute of Art and History. Currently Ferraro is the Shop Supervisor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences managing a shop he designed and built from scratch.
