Bodil Manz
Bodil Manz, tall vessel with geometric designs, made in Denmark

2017

About

Bodil Manz is a ceramicist known for her use of ultra-thin, translucent eggshell porcelain to create distinctive cylindrical forms, anchored by bold, geometric abstractions in a style evocative of Russian Suprematism. Manz was born in Copenhagen in 1943, and she began creating her experimental forms in the early 1990s. Her geometric patterns are comprised of bold, tightly composed fields of color, inspired by modernist architecture and painters like Mondrian and Malevich.
