About the Item

Signed on base, 'Clyde Ball' (American, 1929-2017) and created 1975. Mounted on the artist's original granite base. (height, including base, 22 inches) Born in Indiana, Clyde Ball first attended Utah State University and the Art Institute of Chicago before serving as an officer in the United States Army during the Korean War. In 1964, after a near-fatal car accident, Ball decided to become a full-time artist. Over the course of a long career, he exhibited widely and with success and was the recipients of numerous prizes, medals and juried awards including, in 1966, from the Bonnewell Art Festival which allowed the artist and his wife to travel to Paris to further their art studies. Ball was a member of the Northern Indiana Arts Association and the Deer Path Art League and his work can be found in private and public collections including the permanent collections of the Utah State University, Indiana University, and the cities of Saugatuck (MI), Hammond (IN), and Springfield (IL). In France, Lloyd quickly achieved both commercial and critical success and was made welcome in Modernist artistic circles. She exhibited widely, including at the Salon D'Automne, the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon des Beaux Arts among other Ateliers and galleries. Paper dimensions: 24.25 x 35.5 inches A fresh and unfaded woodblock print showing a view of cherry tree boughs heavy with glowing blossoms before a vista of rolling hills with stylized Japanese pine beneath a luminous, golden sunset. Morihiro Sato graduated from Musashino College of Fine Art before studying under the printmaker Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979). Sato’s work focuses on the beauty of nature, particularly that of trees.     Inscribed on base, 'W.G.' for Wedo Georgetti (American, 1911-2005) and created circa 1950. Acquired directly from the artist and accompanied by certificate of authenticity. Born in Italy, this California Post-Impressionist came to the United States at the age of one. Georgetti first worked as a merchant seaman to support his art studies and traveled all over the world accumulating sketches, many of which he later worked up into paintings. He made frequent visits to France, where he was influenced by the Post-Impressionists and, particularly, by the Nabis.
