Delphine Grandvaux
"The Path (La Sente)", Yellow and Black Metal Aerial Hand-Woven Mural Sculpture

2023

About the Item

Titled "The Path", this airy sculpture is hand-woven by artist Delphine Grandvaux from black and yellow iron wires. "The Path" is that little trail, The one on which we proceed without truly knowing where it will lead us, nor what we will discover upon it; sometimes clear, other times cluttered with wild grasses and underbrush; But never without a few small marvels that make us smile at life ! For the installation, a mural option is more appropriate for this piece due to its non-flat topography, which casts shadows that add depth to the artwork. Alternatively, it can be hung from the ceiling using two mounts on the upper sides. It should be set against a solid background—a plain, possibly one-colored backdrop—to ensure that the sculpture's details and shadows stand out. Delphine Grandvaux, French sculptor, is driven by her aspiration to craft artworks that convey lightness and airiness. She has developed a unique artistic method, echoing the meshing techniques of Ruth Asawa. Grandvaux's creations are characterized by the interplay of metallic threads, occasionally integrated with other lightweight materials like wood and wool. Through her skilled hands, these threads undergo a transformation into voluminous shapes that are at once organic and dynamic, exuding delicacy and sophistication. These forms engage in a ballet with light and shadow, creating transparent or semi-transparent structures that embody poetry, grace, and elegance.
