About the Item

Two striking steel triangles painted in royal blue—in different sizes; their centers cut-out triangles stand beside one another in this new outdoor sculpture by Canadian artist Fraser Radford. Radford works in multiple disciplines including film, photography, paint and sculpture. The simple shapes of this piece were inspired by forms found in nature. “I drew a triangle on a piece of graph paper, then out of curiosity, erased a small section, and bingo! A new idea was born!” Fraser Radford He has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Queen’s University, a Fine Arts diploma from St. Lawrence College and a post graduate certificate in Studio Process Advancement from the Haliburton School of the Arts. • Chromatica - tall, geometric abstract, powder coated steel outdoor sculpture
    By Ryan Van Der Hout
    Located in Bloomfield, ON
As the sun moves through the sky, the green and purple lenses of Ryan Van Der Hout’s ‘Chromatica’ capture the light and cast colourful shadows. Van Der Hout’s powder-coated steel sculptures were inspired by their work as a professional photographer. This compelling modernist piece features five hand forged black steel poles that fan out from the center and are top and tailed with five disks of framed glass. Their vision was to create pieces infused with light and motion. As a result, the sculpture is best viewed by walking around it. “Effecting something of a kaleidoscopic eye, the sculpture’s lenses interact with sunlight and with each other to combine colours in surprising and delightful ways.” Ryan Van Der Hout An interdisciplinary artist Van...
