Sculpture is mounted on a square iron base. Unmarked. 24 in x 12 in x 12 in. The one at the Arboretum is described as Material: stainless steel over structural steel, 1979 Gift of Philip and Muriel Berman Three Tubes presents a visual puzzle. Three disconnected cylinders are aligned in a column as if by magic. But if your eyes trace the path of the shapes from bottom to top, you'll discover that it really doesn't defy gravity. Israel Hadany (Hebrew: ישראל הדני‎, Israel ha-Dani) (born 1941) is an Israeli environment artist , sculptor and jewelry designer, internationally acknowledged. He is involved with poetry writing as well. Born in Beit HaShita kibutz. Along his childhood his family moved several times, first to Ayelet Hashahar kibbutz, later to Kfar Ganim (nearby Petah Tikva) and finally to Jerusalem. At the age of 15 he started his art studies at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv, taking evening courses while continuing his high school learning during day time. He was the youngest student in the institute among other mature students. He focused on drawing and painting studies and was deeply involved in his art. Later he returned there but soon realized that painting is not going to be enough for his artistic and personal aspirations. 1965 - 1967 He turned to post graduate studies at Hornsey College of Art, London. The years in London influenced deeply his art. His confrontation with monumental ancient civilization's art in the British Museum was highly influential and left a significant imprint on his art. He mentions often a monumental sculpture from the Easter Islands . In Hornsey College he focused mainly on sculpture. Several years after his return to Israel (1971) he was invited to teach sculpture and design at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. 1972 Hadany Represented Israel at the Venice Biennale, Italy. Hadany often collaborates in his art with architects and thinkers and creates environmental works of art. 1975 He works with Taller de Arquitectura of Ricardo Bofill. Barcelona . 1981-1982 creates the first artonomic system in sculpture. 1983 Represents Israel at the International Symposium on Outdoor Sculpture at Yorkshire. 2000 Among the five finalists in the international competition of Martin Luther King National Memorial Project Washington. 2001 Guest artist at the International Sculpture Symposium, Carrara. Selected Public Works 1975 Glass Sculpture, Beit Yad Lebanim, Jerusalem. 1977 Memorial Sculpture , Ben Gurion Airport . 1985 Sky Pool , The Open Museum ,Tefen , Israel. 1987 Sky Pool , The Israel Museum Sculpture Garden. 1998 The Shrine of Trees , the National Library , Hebrew University , Jerusalem. 2001 Here lays the dove's shadow. Carrara. 2016 The Blue System. Har Hotzvim Jerusalem Like Yaacov Agam, Menashe Kadishman, Dani Karavan, Yechiel Shemi and Igael Tumarkin his large scale environmental works can be found all around Israel and around the world. Hadany's art is concerned with the sublime and the transcendental often allusive of ancient monumental Egyptian and Assyrian art. Most of his earlier three dimensional works were abstract geometric and minimalist. but after his visit to India in 2005 his art has undergone a deep change and was opened to new directions. Oasis, his artistic environment in Beersheba for instance is colorful and rich in shapes. • Large 1970's Israeli Abstract Sculpture Steel Menashe Kadishman Tel Aviv Uprise
    By Menashe Kadishman
    Located in Surfside, FL
Hitromemut (Uprise) Beautiful large sculpture by renowned Israeli sculptor Menashe Kadishman. Super quality, and visually stunning. There is a large monumental version of this in front of the Habima Theater, Israel's National Theatre in the heart of Tel Aviv. this is from the small edition of 10. The elements of this work, are balanced on top, in opposition to its construction. Menashe Kadishman was born in Tel-Aviv in 1932. He is a Graduate of St. Martin's School of Art, University of London. From 1947 to 1950, Kadishman studied with the Israeli sculptor Moshe Sternschuss at the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv, and in 1954 with the Israeli sculptor Rudi Lehmann in Jerusalem. In 1959, he moved to London, where he remained until 1972. He had his first one-man show there in 1965 at the Grosvenor Gallery. His sculptures of the 1960s were Minimalist in style and so designed as to appear to defy gravity. This was achieved either through careful balance and construction, as in Suspense (1966), or by using glass and metal so that the metal appeared unsupported, as in Segments (1968). In 1995, he began painting portraits of sheep. These instantly-recognizable sheep portraits...

  • Hand Signed Dated 1993 Colorful Acrylic Vasa Laminated Lucite Triangle Sculpture
    By Vasa Velizar Mihich
    Located in Surfside, FL
Irregular triangle, 1993 Laminated acrylic Hand signed and dated: Vasa / 1993 4" H x 12" W x 3" D (size is approximate) Vasa Velizar Mihich (born 1933), known as Vasa, is an American artist based in Los Angeles, California. Born in Yugoslavia, Vasa has lived in Los Angeles since his arrival in the United States in 1960. He is an academically trained painter and was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA in the Department of Design and Media Arts. He taught theories of color to understand interdependence and interaction of color and form, color and quantity, color and placement, and after-image. In the 1960s, Vasa developed techniques for working with cast laminated acrylic forms based on simple Euclidean shapes. These prisms of luminous construction are created by composing colored planes within these geometric forms. To fully appreciate these works of art, it is essential to observe them from different angles―the sculptures dimensionality contributes to an ever-changing appearance. Now retired as a professor emeritus, Vasa focuses on his conceptual art practice. His studio, designed to accommodate the technology required for his work, is located in the heart of Los Angeles. He makes laminated acrylic sculptures that reflect and refract light. He has had solo exhibitions at galleries in the United States, Japan, Italy and Serbia, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Belgrade, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the Palm Springs Desert Museum. Vasa is best known for his sculptures made from colored pieces of the plastic, poly(methyl methacrylate), which is also known as acrylic and by the brand names Plexiglas and Lucite. Untitled from 1975, in the collection of the Honolulu Museum of Art, demonstrates the effect of these minimalist sculptures. His work straddles the West Coast Light and Space art movement, Artists such as Robert Irwin, James Turrell, John McCracken, Larry Bell, Craig Kauffman, Billy Al Bengston, Peter Alexander, and Lita Albuquerque...

  • "Fennel Earrings" a contemporary, geometric, fine gauge stainless steel earrings
    Located in Morgan Hill, CA
Crafted by the brilliant mind of Taos, New Mexico based Jeweler/ Metal Smith, Julie Lake. The Fennel Earrings are a stunning pair of contemporary jewelry. Featuring a pod-like three-dimensional shape and the end of the earring post with a long earring thread made from highly polished stainless steel wire. Bio Julie Lake hand fabricates her metal work exclusively from a spring tempered, fine gauge stainless steel. She uses an arc welding process at precise settings to join the metal by melting and fusing it together at the tiny joints. The nature of this stainless steel, along with the welding process, allows Lake to create complex and visually fragile, yet deceptively strong forms with very small diameter wires. Although the welding of steel is typically regarded as an industrial process, Lake likens her technique to the domestic act of sewing or knitting. By way of welding, she methodically and repetitively stitches together the threads of stainless steel which accumulate into larger forms. Her decision to only create with this very specific material is quite minimalistic, but Lake engages with the material with multidisciplinary intent. Her work spans from large scale art installation, to design-driven functional items, to wearable and decorative pieces rooted in fine craft. This multidisciplinary approach allows the individual pieces to cross-pollinate with and inform each other. Lake's training as a maker started at a very young age. Her father, Ron Lake, is a machinist who went on to establish a career creating fine folding...
