Dynamic red sculpture embracing the principles of Constructivism, "The New D"

2019

About the Item

Title: "The New 'D' Sculpture" Inspired by the dynamic and influential "Alphabet Series" of the contemporary Constructivist sculptor, Fletcher Benton, my work, titled "The New 'D' Sculpture," is a bold reimagining of a symbol for the city of Detroit. Rooted in the Constructivist genre, this piece draws inspiration from Benton's emphasis on geometric forms. The sculpture, crafted from cut and welded steel, exemplifies the tenets of Constructivism with its distinct linear planes that convey both strength and longevity. The deliberate use of industrial colors, red and black, enhances the visual impact, making a statement of bold and uncompromising form. These color choices not only pay homage to Detroit's industrial heritage but also infuse the sculpture with a sense of vigor and resilience. The craftsmanship of "The New 'D' Sculpture" stands as a testament to my skill in metalworking. Every cut, weld, and finish is executed with precision and care, resulting in a piece that not only pays homage to Constructivist principles but also reflects my dedication to the art of metal sculpture. Through this work, I strive to capture the essence of Detroit's strength, resilience, and industrial history, presenting it in a form that is both visually compelling and enduring.
