A whimsical modernist cast sculpture by listed San Francisco Figural artist Scott Donahue (American, b-1951), 1991. Resin, fiberglass, quartz clock movement and a No. 1 billiards ball. Signed, titled and dated on verso, "Here", Scott Donahue 1991." Scott Donahue was born in Hinsdale, Illinois. Donahue has been working in the field of public art sculpture since 1980. He has designed, fabricated and installed 19 permanent public art projects and successfully completed thirty-nine temporary Public art works. The permanent projects are located in California and Colorado, while temporary works have been located as far away as New York, New Jersey and Italy. Throughout his career, his work has reflected the site, the community and most often includes symbolic figures. Though he works with the knowledge of traditional figurative sculpture, his work is contemporary in concept, style and in its use of new materials. The artist a won national competition sponsored by Berkeley’s Civic Arts Commission in 2003 to create monumental figurative groups for Berkeley’s I-80 Bicycle Pedestrian Over Crossing. The resulting two sculptures for both ends of the bridge were completed in 2008. Donahue’s Previous clients have included cities, a university, a regional transportation district, churches, a library, and many commercial developers. The artist also has a sixteen year history of exhibitions and has taught at three universities and an art college. He received his art education at Philadelphia College of Art, BFA 1973 as assistant to sculptor Juan Lombardo in Quernavaca, Mexico, in 1975 and at the University of California, Davis, MFA 1982. He currently lives and works in Emeryville, California.
