Split Brain of a Female Warrior, Abstract Sculpture, 2020

2020

About the Item

Artist Commentary: Split Brain of a Female Warrior is one of my first pieces I made with sheet metal. It's 2D and lies flat on a canvas. This piece depicts the fight between the left and right sides of your brain: Analytical, logical, rational vs. Creative, artistic and free-thinking. Most artists I know are fighting to find a balance between the two and I find this balance incredibly difficult to find since both sides of me are very loud in my head. Leaving behind a steady career to pursue the adventure of building a career and life as an artist has been one of the most challenging and exhilarating experiences over the past five years. This piece reminds me that as female artists we're warriors for the creative spirit. It's not easy, but it's simple. Do the work and keep showing up for battle. This is one of the first pieces I made for a show in Southern California after I left my career in Finance and it was selected as the featured image for the exhibition banner! Comes in custom made cherry oak shadowbox frame and weighs about 40 lbs. Keywords: Abstract, modern, contemporary, female empowerment, wall sculpture, sculptural Artist Biography: Mini Mukherjee is an award-winning Indian American metalwork artist, sculptor, and visual designer based in Los Angeles. Her practice is direct reflection of what she values most in life: Joy, resiliency and togetherness. Art is both her canvas and tool for personal transformation and reflection. Mini’s unique metalwork sculptures and fire paintings have shown and sold throughout California as well as in private collections across the country. More recently, Mini was awarded the 2017 Emerging Artist of the Year by the Arts Council of White Lake Gallery. Mini was also selected to exhibit her first interactive metalwork sculpture "Joy Buddies" in ArtPrize 9, the world's largest art competition by attendance and was cited as a Top 10 must-see by iHeartRadio. Prior to her journey into the Arts, Mini held leadership positions in finance, enterprise sales and digital marketing for Fortune 500 companies and startups.

Delicately balanced, the sculpture moves in the air redefining the space and affording the viewer a fresh ‘view’.
