About the Item
Bright mandarin orange draws the viewer’s eye to this playful and dynamic sculpture by Philippe Pallafray. This piece—four rings of varying sizes attached at intriguing angles -- is one of a series of table-top sculptures hand forged from highly polished stainless steel—the interior coated in bright paint. The Quebec based artist’s sculptures are designed to represent the duality of nature and the industrial world. Edition one of ten.
“I use certain mobile components so my pieces appear to change (when viewed) from different angles. The changing elements and empty spaces in my pieces reference the creative force of our perpetually evolving societies.” Philippe Pallafray
He is a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada. Born in France, he emigrated to Canada several years ago and currently lives in Ile d’Orléans, Québec. Pallafray's sculptures have been exhibited in Canada and the United States both as part of group and solo exhibitions. They are also part of public and private collections in Canada, France and the United States.
Philippe Pallafray is represented exclusively by the Oeno Gallery.

Philippe Pallafray
Philippe Pallafray is a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada. He worked for 15 years in fine arts in France before immigrating to Canada. In 2005, he established a studio on Île d'Orléans, Québec. Pallafray integrates polished stainless steel with natural and man-made materials to create provocative indoor and outdoor sculptures. His work is designed to represent the duality of nature and the industrial world.
“What is removed from the sculptures, the voluntary emptiness, recalls the ephemeral and fragile nature of life,” Pallafray has said.
Pallafray has exhibited in the U.S., France and Canada at the John B. Aird Gallery, the Artist Project Toronto, Alliance Française de Toronto and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. In 2016, he was artist-in-residence at Saint-Georges de Beauce, where he was commissioned to create the sculpture Aquagraphie. Pallafray’s work is held in private and public collections in North America and France.
