About the Item

An outdoor sculpture made out of powder coated stainless steel. This sculpture is a rich, vibrant, and shiny pink. Rick Lazes is a three dimensional artist who works in a variety of media including wood, plaster, stainless steel, glass, plexiglass, and marble. Lazes’ first studio was heated by a coal potbelly stove on a West Virginia mountaintop, where he spent much of his time trying to stay warm while crafting his sculpture. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, today Lazes lives and works on Lake Norman near Charlotte, North Carolina. Lazes' series features works that are reverse painted on acrylic panels, which are oven-heated and shaped by hand, and works in stainless steel that are laser cut, shaped, and polished by hand. Each piece is a unique emotional statement complete with the varied dynamics of a musical composition. Rick's compositions invites the viewer to contemplate both utility of purpose and transformation of form over time. The sculptures of Damon Hyldreth appear both static and fluid, rigid and flexible, strong and smooth, effectively blurring the line between nature and structure. By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks. Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience. In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. Public and private installations of Hyldreth’s work include the town of Palm Desert, CA, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, The W Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, Trump Hollywood, Hollywood, FL Neiman Marcus, Houston, TX, Soffitel Hotel, Los Angeles, CA and the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza...

  • Big Love - Medium
    By Rainer Lagemann
    Located in Miami, FL
Powder-coated stainless steel. Unique. Born in Düsseldorf, Germany on September 14th, 1959, Rainer Lagemann studied in Abitur Albert Einstein Gymnasium from 1965 - 1978. Following this, he enrolled in the University of FH Detmold (1983 - 1987) where he studied Interior architecture and got a sense of himself - learned a lot about design, furniture, architecture and art. It was only in 2005 when Lagemann started welding and found his true passion and special talent for it. Concentrating on the human body in a modern interpretation of the classic art of sculpture, Rainer is fascinated by the human body and the classic theme of artistic expression and struggle that has been depicted in all shapes, materials and mediums since the existence of mankind. Rainer's sculptures capture the human body in motion--a freeze frame of classic, timeless gestures and emotions that are both ethereal and concrete. The forms he creates are how one would imagine the grace of a Nureyev or Baryshnikov in mid-flight. Rainer uses hollow metal squares to sculpt the human form, creating works that elicit both the strength and delicacy of the body. Each square represents the trials and tribulations of life, the four corners symbolizing the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual dimension of human beings that form the framework of the spirit and the image of the body. The hollow squares strip away distractions, leaving a powerful vision and exploration of the human body, adding an element of tangible levity and intangible abstraction. With all of Rainer's sculptures there is a secondary layer of beauty, abstraction and mystery. When darkness falls and the lights come on, the exquisite shadows of form, squares, body and spirit cast themselves upon the walls creating a second sculpture of light...
