Rudi Sgarbi
"Campbell's Tomato Soup" 3D Glass Sculpture After Andy Warhol Tomato Soup

2017

About the Item

A sculpturesque piece made from pieces of glass of iconic Campbell's Tomato Soup. Signed bottom right corner. Rudi Sgarbi was born in 1975 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a versatile artist in search for a language that overcomes technical frontiers. His creative production is a libel in favor of democratization of Fine Arts and leads us to believe that every work of art can indeed be in perfect harmony with the environment in which it is placed. His referrals are the most diverse possible. From classical artists he inherits the meticulous and complex labor of those who study biases of all artistic possibilities; from contemporary ones, the courage to expose and to recreate himself, and the attempt to achieve a multifaceted work that bears his signature. Noting the influences of the past and the every day, Rudi Sgarbi is always looking for new materials and new techniques of implementation. This search recreates and gives new meaning to his own versatility, making him not restricted to just one style or a certain material, enabling his own process to be a symbolic/artistic interaction, where intuition is always in the first place. This piece is a limited edition. PROVENANCE: Lilac Gallery Collection. Consigned by the gallery directly from Rudi Sgarbi Studio.

    By Daniel Fiorda
    Located in New York, NY
Daniel Fiorda in this new series of sculptures, continues in many ways the themes that have infused his previous work. For the last several years, Fiorda has dealt with technology, obsolescence, with the trail of discarded tech that humanity leaves behind and what it says about us. The new work takes this thematic one step further. These new wall pieces feature barely concealed found objects, almost fully engulfed by concrete, and yet still eerily discernible: industrial gears, computer keyboards, objects that evoke industrial post-digital eras. This piece is a set of 3 artworks...
