About the Item
Samuelle Green’s work has always been multidisciplinary. Throughout all her mediums; painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, there is a common thread of subject matter – that of the interaction of the human made and non-human visual world languages. At times these encounters are contentious and at others symbiotic – often stills in processes of decay as well as those of fructuous growth. Whether through mark making or the repurposing of recycled materials, Samuelle seeks to highlight the forms and details present in nature which humanity often overlooks and underappreciates. Within sets of self-imposed parameters or on rigid structures representing metaphorical frameworks of natural laws, elements repeat and propagate giving way to organic forms free of their scaffolds both literal and non-material.

- Textile Wall Sculture: 'THE FUGITIVE'By Judy Rushin-KnopfLocated in New York, NYThis piece is from a new body of work called 'Vital Signs’ which will premiere at Ivy Brown Gallery in NYC and springs from the domain of hospitals and illness through combinations of hand-woven and tufted textiles and minimalist box-like objects that hang on walls or embed in the textiles themselves. The textiles refer to items of worn clothing, flattened identity, and superstition that come with illness and extended hospital stays. Their dominant color is blue, a hue known to calm the nervous system, but also the color of a failing body (cyanosis). The black and white objects...Category

- Medium Abstract Sculpture: 'Accepting'By Eileen BraunLocated in New York, NYDuring the COVID-19 lockdown, many faced swirling negative thoughts….. Atlanta sculptor, Eileen Braun, worked through the lockdown challenge and re-channeled that negative energy into her hands. As her hands cradled and examined the materials, her mind welcomed being in the moment and being grateful for what was. Those positive thoughts became her mantra while creating. Accepting change without judgement. On occasion, accepting the days that didn’t change, while the materials spoke anew. She explains that “the resulting forms display my interwoven emotions: quiet, complex, absorbed, relaxed, serious, playful, flirtatious, mothering, smothering and ultimately, joyful.” Her installation, OPEN SPACES: Espaces Ouverts, is a profusion of forms suspended in our two front facing plaza windows. As they float, sight lines...Category
