About the Item
"Tear for Henry" is an abstract glass sculpture in the blue azurelite color, which Tom laminates, grinds and polishes resulting in the glass's architectural form.
Tom Marosz’s drive to test the limits of manipulating light began early on; teenage interests in photography and optics yielded early holography projects. His efforts were deemed so cutting edge during the 1960’s that he ended up collaborating with the Navy Electronics Lab team in Point Loma. After 15 years of expert execution of glass construction and glass handling, Tom built upon his experience using cold working skills, cutting and polishing tools, creating glass sculptures.
Many of his current works are created using optic crystal, dichroic coatings
and kiln fusing. Aside from Tom’s public collections, his unique sculptures are presently enjoyed in many private collections worldwide.

- "Blue Abstraction" Blown-glass, Steel, Abstract, SculptureLocated in Detroit, MISALE ONE WEEK ONLY "Blue Abstraction" is a blown-glass creation encased in steel. The captured organic lift of its shape belies the weight of its structure. Albert Young has been operating an independent glass studio/school since 1983 and has been a pivotal member of the Detroit areas glass community. He received his BFA in ceramics from The Center For Creative in Studies in 1982 and his MFA in sculpture from Wayne State University in 1988 as well as studies in Taiwan, Murano, Italy and Canada.
