About the Item

This pioneering Astronaut explores the concept of pushing boundaries and what that means in a modern world. One can easily imagine this astronaut standing bravely on the moon or perhaps Mars pointing through the lunar or Martian sky toward Earth. His profound stance is synonymous with athletics, the Olympic games and beyond to the future unshackled by the forward thinking viewer. Anatomically accurate yet hidden beneath this very sculptural space suit, the proportions of this figure please the eye. There is a subtle hint of impressionism in the 'drapery' as its traditionally known, in his space suit. A blending of creases and folds that lend themselves to a more modern taste. Cast in bronze and mounted on a bronze base he can be patinated in either white, silvery grey or champagne. All have gilded visors in 23.5 carat gold. He is made to order 14 to 16 weeks production time.

  • Nautilus
    Located in Oswestry, GB
The Nautilus shell is an excellent example of mathematics inherent within lifeforms of the natural world. As Davies consistently uses the 'golden ratio' (1:1.618) to proportion his work, he thought it important to exemplify this in his subject matter. The Fibonacci sequence (where each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers) and the logarithmic spiral are also inherent here. The bronze shell is mounted on a black granite base in a way that creates an optical illusion suggesting it is levitating above the base. This bronze Nautilus...
