About the Item
This trilobite fossil was delicately hand carved in herculite (a fine casting plaster). These marine arthropods first appeared around 521 million years ago living in the Cambrian period and most of the Palaeozoic Era for nearly 300 million years. They died out during the Permian mass extinction that wiped out 90% of all species. These creatures were probably predators, feeding on invertebrates on the sea floor. This relief carving is an accurate and proportionate depiction, cast in bronze and gilded with 22.5 carat champagne gold leaf. It is to be wall mounted. 12 to 14 weeks from confirmed order to date of collection from my studio.
