About

Rows of polished screws define the contours of a large face merging into concentric circles around a glass stone at the forehead. The title of this contemplative bronze and steel wall sculpture refers to the third eye or 6th chakra in the Hindu tradition. This point is the center of intuition and foresight that is driven by openness and imagination.

Dale Dunning holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. While earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Mt. Allison University, NB, he studied under Lawren P. Harris (son of Group of Seven member, Lawren S. Harris) and George Tiessen. Dunning has exhibited across Canada and his work is held in private, corporate and public collections including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Robert McLaughlin Gallery, McIntosh Gallery at Western University, Carleton University Art Collection, and the National Library of Canada.

"My sculptures are objects of reflection and contemplation. The head that I employ in most of my work is generic, non-specific ... I look on them as a mirror which reflects back the observer's experience in new combinations and associations." ~ Dale Dunning
