About the Item

EDUARDO PAOLOZZI RA KBE (1924-2005) Eduardo Paolozzi is one of Scotland's most eminent 20th century artists. Born in Edinburgh to Italian immigrants, this painter, sculptor, and print maker is considered to be a pioneer of the ’pop art’ movement. His work is represented in galleries worldwide and in Edinburgh can be seen in the Gallery of Modern Art and the Dean Gallery. This is a sculptural box designed by Paolozzi for Nairn flooring in the 1970s to promote their products to architects and designers. Of the 3000 made, relatively few have survived and are coveted by collectors. Examples can be found in New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria & Albert Museum and Edinburgh University's School of Informatics. Comes complete with original commemorative leaflet and brochures. Provenance - By descent from the family of a Nairn employee from Aberdeen.
